Case Study: Promoting Cultural Revitalization in the Bristol Bay Region
About the Client
Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC) was incorporated in 1972 as one of thirteen Alaska Native Regional Corporations under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971 (ANCSA). Since its creation, the Bristol Bay Native Corporation’s vision has been to protect the land in the Bristol Bay region, celebrate the legacy of its people, and enhance the lives of BBNC shareholders.
About the Project
Following the launch of BBNC Culture Camp in 2021, they wanted to take the opportunity to use existing photos and videos to promote the camp for their 2022 season. Without an in-house creative team to produce the content for them and the deadline for starting promotion for the BBNC Culture Camp coming closer, they started searching online for help to produce high-quality videos.
After finding Orange Slice Marketing, they reached out to us to create content that would promote the values of the BBNC Culture Camp. These videos would communicate how the camp connects youth to their heritage, fosters a sense of belonging, creates a space for cross-cultural sharing, and serves as a cultural revitalization in the Bristol Bay region.
Results
After a series of interviews, we provided six different variations of the video that would appear on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. These videos were able to:
Generate over 22,000 views across all platforms over the span of a month
More than triple their registration numbers from the previous year
Invoke a strong emotional response in their shareholders when presented at a board meeting
Bristol Bay Native Corporation was able to take existing video and photo content in partnership with Orange Slice to produce a high-quality promotional video for their BBNC Culture Camp that resulted in more than triple their registration numbers in 2021.
